Child Protection

The Parish has two Child Protection Co-ordinators who continually assess all the activities of the Parish to ensure that they meet the best practice of Child Protection. Our team also organise Criminal Records Checks and personal references for all adults seeking to work with children or vulnerable adults in the parish.

Communion to the Sick

Catholics who are housebound due to serious illness or the frailty of old age should receive Holy Communion every week. A team of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion provide this service. Please contact the Parish Priest if you know of someone who is housebound.

Grandparents Association

Are you a Grandparent? Either bringing up your grandchildren, or experiencing difficulties in gaining contact with your grandchildren. Or, perhaps you would just like to talk with other grandparents? Then join our support group in this area! We meet on the 1st Monday of each month at 7pm in the Parish Centre.

Hospital Admission

If you know of a Catholic admitted to Hospital please inform the Parish Priest and ask the staff to contact the Hospital's Catholic Chaplain. Catholic Priests are restricted by information legislation (the Data Protection Act) and so have no way of knowing who the Catholics are in hospital unless someone informs them.

If you are in hospital, you are entitled to Spiritual Care, but you will only get it if you request it from the staff. Please do not leave your requests to the last minute!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The core work of the SVP is befriending: sitting side-by-side with those who are isolated or facing disadvantage for whatever reason. At St. Catherine's our SVP group is small but active and takes part in the following activities:
  • A monthly meeting is held where we pray together and organise a rota for visits.
  • We make visits in two's mainly to the elderly and housebound and ensure their spiritual and material needs are being met.
  • We arrange transport where required to and from Sunday Mass, and to other events that happen in the Church.
  • Each January we hold a party for the Senior Citizens of our Parish and the whole surrounding community, regardless of faith.
If you are aware of someone who is in need, or you wish to join us in reaching out to the wider community of the sometimes "Forgotten"
