Altar Servers

Our dedicated team of altar servers are an essential element of any liturgical service. Altar Serving is open to both boys and girls who have completed their First Holy Communion.

Altar Society

Each month the Parish holds a second collection towards the costs of altar breads, wine and flowers for the sanctuary. For many years now this collection has been co-ordinated by Andrew Brownrigg.

Book of Remembrance

In preparation for the Month of the Holy Souls in November, the Parish invites parishioners to provide a list of all the deceased members of their families and friends. From these lists a Book of Remembrance is compiled to be placed in the Church throughout the month of November. At every Mass in November, all those whose names appear in the Book of Remembrance are prayed for.

Children's Liturgists

Children's liturgy is NOT a creche for noisy children! It is a opportunity for children aged between approximately 3 and 7 to hear the Gospel proclaimed to them at a level that they can understand and appreciate. The children gather with their parents in the Church for the beginning of Mass, and should NOT go directly to the Parish Hall where Children's liturgy takes place. Following an opening prayer, they are then let in procession out of the Church into the Parish Hall. They return to the Church and rejoin their parents during the offertory procession.

Choir

The choir leads the congregation in the singing at Sunday 10.00a.m mass and also on major feast days. Volunteers are urgently required as every voice lends a different dimension to the music. Commitment to attend rehearsals is essential.

Flower Arrangers

A group of parishioners form a rota to arrange flowers for Sundays, feast days and special occasions. This activity is carried out either on Fridays or Saturdays. More volunteers are always required for this important ministry.

Readers

The proclamation of the Word of God, is one of the most significant ministries in our community. Two readers are required for each Mass, on a four week rota.

Sacristans

Sacristans are responsible for all the sacred vessels and for preparing the Church for liturgical celebrations. They also oversee the care of the Church's shrines and votive candles.

Welcomers

When parishioners and in particular visitors arrive at the Church, the first person who greets them is our welcomers. They ensure that everyone is encouraged to take a Hymn Book; Mass Book; and Parish Newsletter. They can also advise on disability access to the Church.

Women's World Day of Prayer Co-Ordinator

Each year the parish fully participates in the Women's World Day of Prayer, which is a major ecumenical activity in the local area. In 2008 the Parish hosted the day of prayer, and welcomed representatives from all the local Church and denominations, as well as representatives from the local community, such as the Mayor of Kingston.
