The Parish Hall is available for hire by individuals or groups for all kinds of events and activities. The Hall is run on a non-profit basis, with charges being used to directly cover the costs of the Hall and its ongoing maintenance and development.

All Parish Hall enquires are to be made to our Parish Secretary, Vera Parfitt during Parish Office Hours (Monday and Friday 9:30am to 11:00am, and Wednesday 2:00pm to 4:00pm)

Children's parties for children between the ages of 13 and 25 years may be permitted for Parishioners. Bookings must be discussed and approved by Fr. Peter and may be subject to a larger security deposit.

If for any reason, your hire is extended beyond your initial booking, we will charge additional fees based on the published rates shown above.


Subsidised Rates

Certain types of events are subsidised by the Church. These are mainly receptions following Baptisms, Funerals, or Approved Charity Fundraising Events. If you are a Parishioner (i.e. someone who has regularly attended the Church for over a year and has filled in the parish census form) your hire may qualify for a subsidy.

Security Deposits

All hall users are now required to leave a security deposit with the Church. For event hire this is payable 7 days before & refunded 7 days after. Please note: in the event of damage your liability may be greater than the deposit, and so you should consider insurance!

Rules and Regulations for use of St. Catherine’s Church Hall

  1. The Person booking the hall is responsible for ensuring that these rules and the Parish’s Health and Safety Policy is fully complied with.
  2. No ceremonies of a religious or ritual nature are permitted in the hall without the explicit permission of the parish priest. This includes prayers and blessings and may include some cultural rituals.
  3. Children MUST be supervised at all times by a responsible adult.
  4. If anything in the hall is broken, or it is not in a clean condition, you must report this immediately you discover it, otherwise you will be held responsible and required to restore it to clean and working order.
  5. The hall, together with its fixtures and contents, must not be damaged in any way. During your hire you will be held responsible for any damage, however caused.
  6. Although the hall may be decorated, it is forbidden to knock nails into the walls or damage the walls in any way whatsoever. The use of cellotape, blue-tack etc. is permitted as long as it does not cause permanent damage, but must be removed after the event.
  7. All decorations must be removed before leaving the hall.
  8. Furniture must never be dragged over the surface of the hall floor but should always be lifted across.
  9. Fire exits must be left clear i.e. no chairs, tables etc. should block easy access to exits.
  10. Music must be kept a reasonable level and should not be so loud as to disturb our neighbours. Windows may be opened, but music will have to be turned down to avoid annoying our neighbours.
  11. The hall and grounds must be left in a clean condition and all rubbish taken away and not left on Church property.

NB Failure to comply fully with any of the above can incur loss of deposit.
