The Catholic Education of children is the first
responsibility of parents. In the Baptism ceremony, the
Church recognises that parents are the
first and best teachers
of their children in the ways of faith. Although the local
Catholic Parish, Catholic groups and the Catholic School
can help compliment the work of parents, the Church
recognises that the main place where children learn and are
taught about their Catholic faith is in the home!
To help parents fulfil their duty to provide a truly
Catholic education to their children, the Church has
established a Catholic School System, which in the UK is
substantially (but not entirely) funded by the State.
The Parish currently contributes approximately £120 per
week from the main collection to the Diocese for the
Churches Education Activities, as well as smaller amounts
to local schools in the form of a levy per child. You will
appreciate that this is a significant investment in the
children of the parish, and we rely on the generosity of
parishioners to make this investment possible and
affordable.
Children from the Parish attend the following Catholic
schools.
Primary Schools (aged 5 to 11)
Secondary Schools (aged 11+)
